Winters In Ithaca
If you are planning a trip to this region (Ithaca), and haven’t been warned about the winters here, then don’t worry — you will be.
In fact, winter in Ithaca is the one topic of discussion that is perfect for conversation with a complete stranger: it is easy to begin, it is easy to end, and it is something everyone will agree on.
Getting to the point, winters here are cold. I haven’t experienced one yet, but it is the middle of October, and the temperature has started to drop. The minimum these days is around 4 degrees Celsius. For a person from Bombay, this is a good time to start preparing for that igloo you always wanted. (Of course, you can’t actually build it until the temperature falls below zero.)
I checked out the current temperature in Bombay — 27 degrees Celsius. *sigh*

@Abhishek: That is proof enough that you are not from Bombay!

Wear warm stuff– this is a risky season, where it can get cold suddenly. It’s the drastic changes in temperature– e.g. cold outside, but warm inside the building– gives colds and coughs to many people.

@Abhishek: Weather in Bombay is very different from the weather in Chennai, so I completely sympathize with you.
@Sridevi: Yup, already doing that

yikes!
… Welcomes to the US can be very harsh in the northeast. You’ll be fine though. It’s an experience that will build you — trust me on that one! We never get to see snow in Mumbai. So you will have a blast, I gaurantee …

Yes…wait for the 1st snowfall.….it’s absolutely beautiful.….
One thing to be careful about– black ice.…it’s when water freezes up into ice on the roads– it’ll start happening soon.…it doesn’t look like ice at all, looks like just puddles of water. And it’s incredibly slippery. I’ve fallen a couple of times, so be careful. Also, wet leaves are slippery– again, from personal experience of badly scraped knees.
