Wrong Question
To some questions, there are no right answers — any answer is a bad answer. How do you get out of that kind of a situation?

Use the “no comments” option!

Look them straight in the eye; smile real nice; and say “You wouldn’t believe it if I told you”; then smile again. Watch them just look at you confused.
Another option:
Look them straight in the eye; smile real nice; and ask “Why do you want to know?”; then smile again. Watch them hesitate.
If _any_ answer is a bad answer, ask a question. Works everytime!

When I was a TA at DA-IICT we had a very simple mantra for dealing with students…
“If you can’t convince them, confuse them”
This is not the same thing but maybe you can confuse your way out of the tricky situation.

Hi Ramnath,
I intend to start another blog (apart from the one I already have) soon and I was wondering what CMS to use, candidates being Drupal, s9y and WordPress.
I was wondering if you could blog about your experiences with s9y… both from a naive user POV as well as geek POV. Your post would probably help me in decding what should power by new blog.
Btw have you have used any other blogging CMS?

Hi Varun,
I can’t claim to have much experience when it comes to blogging CMS’s, but here’s what I think -
If you are looking for a quick, hassle-free setup, with a fair amount of useful plugins, s9y would be the best option. The setup is straight-forward, and I never faced any kind of problem. In comparison, Drupal requires a good amount of customization before it can be used.
Since you already have a Drupal site, this may not be such a big deal. In that case, (especially if you have time to spare) Drupal would probably be a better option that s9y. In any case, even with s9y, you would have to edit/create the template to have a theme that looks unique. (For a newbie, Drupal would probably be overkill.)
WordPress seems to be quite popular; I’ve tried creating a blog on WordPress.com. The interface is much more “modern” and sleek that s9y, but I couldn’t DO much with it; there weren’t any plugins etc. to experiment with. I haven’t installed the package myself, so I can’t say anything more about it.
So, that’s about it. I have tried out some other CMS’s on OpenSourceCMS.com, but for blogging, none of them seemed quite suitable.
